! am a litigation attorney living in the wine country of Northern California, in the U.S. After an active practice in medical malpractice litigation, I stepped back from courtroom litigation a number of years ago to focus on appellate work, written motion practice, and other litigation support. That shift enabled me to work distantly for my law firm on the East Coast of the U.S,, and to be available to home-school my daughter.
I’ve taken photos for all of my adult life, but I started working more seriously on learning and improving my photography in 2007. I discovered that taking pictures helps me see the world differently, with a focus on details and texture and color. I most love how photography helps me find beauty in the most ordinary things around me.
Creativity is a big part of my life. I post photographs and my watercolor sketches at https://www.flickr.com/photos/dphock, and I make unique handmade journals which I sell via my Etsy shop, Dizzy Dog Creations. I am also the founder and co-author, along with fellow Artist in Law Helen Conway, of the Twelve by Twelve International Art Quilt Challenge.
